For your dinner time entertainment, we’re thrilled to announce that Boxed Lunch will be returning to our slice of paradise here in Free Union. Their awesome Indie Pop Rock sounds are sure to satisfy all of your musical cravings! Performing live, Friday, Arpil 16th, from 6 to 8:30pm.

Band Bio:
Boxed Lunch is a Charlottesville VA based indie pop/rock band led by the melodic songwriting duo of Justin Storer (drums/vocals) and Joel Streeter (guitar/vocals), along with Emily Gardiner (vocals), Zack Beamer (bass/vocals) and Chad Page (lead guitar). Boxed Lunch is known for their high-energy live shows and killer harmonies.

Justin and Joel have been following each other around the country for years without knowing it, finally meeting and joining forces in 2018. Both formerly of San Francisco and Brooklyn, they share a love for The Beatles and a gift for classic songwriting. Justin has released two albums of original music — a solo record (Hot Water Sunday) and a record with his Americana quintet, The Working Effective (Dear Brooklyn) — and has toured both nationally and internationally. Joel has two albums of his own, Hear Me Out and Matador, the latter of which features contributions by members of Counting Crows and Train, and was hailed by CD Baby as “a classic sounding pop album full of bounce, melodic arch, and lyrical substance.” As a solo artist, Joel has played iconic venues such as San Francisco’s Fillmore Auditorium (opening for Phil Lesh and Friends) and The Great American Music Hall.

We’re excited to get the weekend started with the Stewedafried Bluegrass Trio and their awesome crockpot of musical delicacies. Making their Glass House Winery debut here in the tropics of Free Union. Friday, April 30th, from 6 to 8:30pm. Open to all, no cover!

Stewedafried Bluegrass Trio uses elements of old-time fiddle music, Appalachian clogging tunes, and cajun flavorings to push the boundaries of bluegrass into new and unexplored dimensions. Taking their cue from modern innovators such as Cedric Watson and sonic soul-brothers the Amazing String Band, Stewedafried hues a sound that’s a continually evolving amalgam of traditional and contemporary styles. Comprised of Chris Leva on guitar and vocals and Colby Joplin on fiddle and vocals (both of Ragged Mountain String Band) and Matty Metcalfe (Hackensaw Boys/Hogwaller Ramblers) on banjo and accordion, The Stewedafried Trio serves their sonic gumbo hot and fresh with just enough spice to get you tapping and singing along. Self described as — An all-boy tribute to girl groups of the early 60s. This is the brainchild of the great Ramblin’ Davey Kulund. As Davey leads the charge with a thoughtful set of hits from The Ronettes, The Crystals, The Supremes, The Chordettes, The Shirelles, The Chiffons, etc… he’s corralled Matty Metcalfe on lead guitar, Justin Storer on drums, and Michael Clem on bass.

It’s going to be a super chill Sunday Fun Day with music by the Tara Mills Trio. With Tara Mills leading the trio featuring guitar, banjo, and mandolin. They’ll be entertaining all with an original blend of folk, bluegrass, and americana — as Tara calls it “” original mountain americana”. Performing live right here in the tropics of Free Union. Sunday, May 16th, from 3 to 5:30pm. Open to all, no cover.

Please note, weather permitting the music is planned to be outdoors — set up under the eaves on the back deck. Glass House Winery owner Jay has added several fire pits along the deck adding a beautiful ambience as well as an aid to keep you cozy on the cooler days.

In some circumstances (including weather issues):

~ the music may be canceled

~ the music may move into the tropical conservatory where, due to social distancing requirements, there is limited, spaced seating (with overflow seating on the covered deck)

~ if the music moves into the conservatory, there may be a need to downsize the number of band members

~ a passing light shower might be okay, but patrons should be prepared

We have plenty of spaced seating areas, the majority of which is outdoors — all seating areas are first come, based on what is available. We also have lots of room for tailgate/picnics on the grass, also first come.

We encourage you to bring your picnic blanket/ chairs. Pop up tents and personal grills are also welcome to be used at the overflow grassy tailgate and picnic areas. Picnics are welcome throughout the property, barring any outside alcohol.

The Tasting Room Bar is closed from Friday at 5 pm through the weekend, EXCEPT for to go sales and wine club pick ups. Bottles and Tasting Flights are available to be enjoyed at your seating area.

While we are not offering traditional tastings we have created several Wine Tasting Flights, including a Chocolate and a wine pairing flight.

The following measures are in place to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all of our guests, as well as our staff:

Practice Social Distancing and please do not gather with others outside of your immediate group, for any reason. We kindly request that you wear face masks when not at your seating area, and face masks must be worn indoors when not at your seating area.

We will be adhering to, and strictly enforcing, all requirements and guidelines as set forth by the Governor and the CDC, which include increased sanitization and cleaning procedures to ensure the health and safety of guests and staff.

At all times, please maintain the minimum safe distance from those not in your group.

We are excited to announce our return to Glass House Winery in Free Union for an upcoming Memorial Day weekend performance. It will have been 8 months since our last show, and we are looking forward to playing our music and seeing friends and fans again.
