DESCRIPTION:We’re delighted to have Ty Burkhardt return to our tropical space here in Free Union. He’ll be treating us to his amazing acoustic sounds. Ty performs solo\, though his impressive fingerstyle technique lends you to believe that he’s backed by a full band. Sunday\, May 31st\, from 2 to 5pm. No cover. Open to all. \nBio:\nTy Burkhardt is an instrumental fingerstyle guitarist from Richmond\, VA who creates the sound of a full band by playing all the parts simultaneously on his acoustic guitar. He first started playing jazz guitar in his middle school jazz band\, and eventually found himself playing at the college level. In high school\, he started experimenting with the fingerstyle acoustic guitar\, and began to hit\, tap\, and slap the guitar while playing to create the drumbeat of the song. He began playing at restaurants starting in his sophomore year of high school\, and later\, he found himself playing all over Virginia. He is currently a jazz student at UVA and Miller Arts Scholar who enjoys tennis and volleyball. DESCRIPTION:It’s going to a great start to the weekend with Lockjaw Classic Rock Band returning to our indoor tropical oasis! They’ll have us rocking to their awesome sounds covering fan favorites spanning the decades from the 60’s through the 80’s\, and beyond. Friday\, May 29th\, from 6 to 8:30pm. Open to all. No cover. \nLOCKJAW PROMO STATEMENT:\nThe LockJaw Band originally formed in Crozet\, Virginia in 2002 and performed until November 2019 at venues (Durty Nelly’s\, Fellini’s\, Kokopellis’\, Uncle Charlies’\, Restoration)\, weddings (UVA Alumni Hall\, King Family Vineyard)\, events (Crozet Arts & Crafts Fair\, Crozet Independence Day Celebration\, Carter Mountain July 4th Celebration)\, private parties\, and made numerous annual appearances at the Carter Mountain Sunset Series. After the Covid pandemic ended\, three of the original members reformed as a 4-piece blues rock band playing primarily 60’\, 70’s\, 80’s classic rock covers. Our gigs also include a few classic country and R&B songs for variety. The band has recently played well-attended gigs at the 2022 Carter Mountain Sunset Series\, C’ville’s Durty Nelly’s Bar\, and EJs’ Deli and Pub\, and The Basic City Beer Company. DESCRIPTION:Join us as we kick off the weekend with the “New Orleans boogie-woogie\, upbeat\, rhythm and blues” sounds of the CHICKENHEAD BLUES BAND. Performing live inside our tropical oasis\, the glass house conservatory! Friday\, April 24th\, from 6 to 8:30pm. No cover. Open to all. (*For those that like to plan ahead\, the Chickenhead Blues Band will be performing live the 4th Friday of every other month. Scheduled through the remainder of 2026 – April\, June\, August\, October\, and the ‘3rd’ Friday in December) \nBio:\nChickenhead Blues Band’s history begins in 1999 with weekly legendary Thursday evening shows playing blues tunes at Durty nelly’s pub. A few personnel changes led to the more fusion influenced repertoire presented now.
